Becoming a Cowboy

In order to really say you are living on a farm a cowboy must have a few special things...boots, spurs, belt with large buckle and a hat. SO we made a trip to the city and found just the right stuff for the boys. Hunter hasn't stopped wearing them since! Devin quickly decided that wearing jeans and boots in 103 degree weather wasn't such a great idea ;) Hunter however HAS to wear jeans...NO substitutions allowed! Imagine that!?!?

A big job each night is to let the cows out. The other night I'm sitting out by the pool watching the sunset and I hear from behind "Go on...shew, shew...get on out there!" What do I find when I turn around??? My cowboy Hunter chasing the cows down the lane into the pins. It was hysterical...one minute you see a cow walking down the lane...five seconds later you see a little cowboy running full speed behind shewing them on. The cow runs into the pin and my cowboy runs back to the barn to start again. Mind you this isn't a short run back and forth! This goes on for about 30 minutes or so. He has quickly learned how to get the cows into the right pins and lock them up. What a sight! I will take video of it soon but below are some pictures.

Devin has really taken with the pigs. He enjoys walking them and watering them each day. He is REALLY excited about getting his baby goat!! He planted pumpkin seeds in the garden and checks on them each day to be sure they're growing. He plans to sell them this Fall at Nini's shop.

One thing that I enjoy each night are the AMAZING sunsets!

First Post!

This is the first post to our new Blog. I will try to update it often so I can share pictures and stories of our adventures here on the farm! So far we have had a busy few weeks...we have settled in very well. The boys are enjoying swimming in the pool and taking care of the pigs and cows. They can't wait to get their goats around the first of July.

We took a trip to the OKC Zoo yesterday...we were able to see the 2 month old baby elephant. She was adorable! We will be taking several "field trips" throught out the summer with kids from Stratford Elementary. It's a great way for us to meet new people and learn about what's around us!

I will try to post some pictures soon!
